A man has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after a one-year-old girl died after she was attacked by a dog. Sussex Police said officers were called to reports of a girl suffering head injuries at a property in Crawley

Immigration centre officers hurt

Six security staff and a police officer were hurt in an operation to remove 60 detainees from an immigration unit in Cambridgeshire following a disturbance. Trouble broke out at the Oakington removal centre after a 40-year-old detainee died on Thursday morning

Goldman Sachs has been accused of fraud in a civil suit filed by US financial watchdog, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). It alleges that the bank marketed complex subprime mortgage packages but did not reveal that a major hedge fund had bet against the securities
